Journal # 19 What three things would you bring whth you to a deserted Island? Why?

If I was able to I would bring fresh water, because there may not be any on the island, I would not like to be without water. The second thing I would bring would be salt, salt and water are a major part of our body that need to be replenished. Last I would bring matches, which could be used for cooking, warmth, and a big bonfire for searchers to see and find me. So the three things would be water, salt, and matches

journal # 18 If you had time to volunteer where would you volunteer? What would you do? Why? Ifyou do volunteer, describe what you do.

I would and have volunteered for Special Olympics, for eight years I worked as fund raiser in Tuolumne County, Ca.
My job was to plan and supervise all fund raising act and was responsible for paperwork and deposits of all funds raised, also report to the Toulumne County Special Olympics board of all fund raising events and turn in paperwork.

The events were a mulitude of events, such as, bake sales through nout the county, at shopping centers ,at the schools, even a booth at the county fair. Then the yard sales, everyone combined their donations and met on the fair grounds or school parking lot. Once a year the businessess, doctors and lawyers, judges etc would have a business lunch and make a donation to the Special Olympics.

It was all so rewarding to do all this and volunteer again to be a chaperone to the stste games down in Los Angles at U.C.L.A.campus. The handicapped students taking part in the games and the chaperones stayed in the dorms, as the college students were on summer break during the time of Special Olympic Games. To see the handicapped win and get excited, was a very emotional time, it made you happy for them, the handicapped people are very special in their own right.

journal #17 Discribe a time when you had to make a difficult decision. What did you do? And how did you choose.

The mostdifficult decision I had to make was my decision to come back to California from Montana. I love Montana and didn't want to leave, but, there were situations I had to deal with. First the towns in Montana are not wheelchair friendly, plus all towns are little and and have a lot of history. There was one town close to where I was, called Bridger, named after a mountain man who had a small tradeing post there that turned into a small town. I love history and would have loved to travel all over Montana and learned about how things were and happenen up to today. Since I'm in a wheelchair and couldn't see all I wanted to see, I came back to California. It would have been a terrible life to bre so close and not be able to see where Custer fought the Sioux and lost the battle. To find out and see where it all happened was important for me because my grandfather was 1/2 Sioux, I wanted to go deeper also and do some family history. How did I choose? I coulden't take the knowing I was getting no where while in this wheelchair, so I came back and started school and filled my mind so I woulden't think about it.

journal #16If you had the power to change the law, what laws would you change, and, why?

For one I would change the highway speed limit to a lower speed, accidents are happening on our highways and this could all be eliminated and make our highways safer with driving more enjoyable. Then too maybe road rage will be history and a few more situations could be ended. I would also change laws pertaining to sentencing and decisions for our teeagers in trouble today. Some need help not jail, While others need jail time. All of this should be researched through past cases then put on the ballot to be voted on. I really think some teenagers coulds be helped to be better if help was given where need.

I've always been comunity minded. For example, I worked on getting crosswalks by the grammer school my kids went to when they were younger. Then I Worked as a fund raiser for Special Olympics. Also, I worked as cub scout leader and girl scout leader. I hope I'm rememberd for some of the care and love put into mine and other kids.

How has the world changed since you were a child? And are the change's good

The change's since I was a child' are a mulitude of change's. I really don't know where to start. Maybe in the home. The telephone, as a child, the phone still had a crank on the side, hung on the wall, reciver on other side, speaker in the middle. Then too there were party lines, if you needed to use the phone and shared with nice people you were fine other wise there was alot of fighting. The cell phones of today, are the neat's. One change I like.
The changes have been phatasma, but good. Speeded up the world.
Then the change along the lines of the phone, the computer. The computer does a mulitude of things, if you know how to do it. You can do banking, school homework, look for sales, look for news articals, world news, megans law, [about child molesters] E-mail thats like a phone call, direct typeing, talk. It goes on and on more than I know at this time.Another thing to speed up the world, but good for today
Then the cars/trucks of today are another fast track happening. When a child, the gear shift was on the steering wheel column. There was no four wheel drive trucks. The change in cars/trucks has been huge. Good? yes/no
The business of today is not good. When I was a child there was a 5-10 cent store, today it's called Wal-Mart and the price is not 5-10 cents. There use to be friendly neighborhood business, even the PG&E was a friendly place to go. Today everything is Corperate. Good? NO. Please don't get me started
