journal # 18 If you had time to volunteer where would you volunteer? What would you do? Why? Ifyou do volunteer, describe what you do.

I would and have volunteered for Special Olympics, for eight years I worked as fund raiser in Tuolumne County, Ca.
My job was to plan and supervise all fund raising act and was responsible for paperwork and deposits of all funds raised, also report to the Toulumne County Special Olympics board of all fund raising events and turn in paperwork.

The events were a mulitude of events, such as, bake sales through nout the county, at shopping centers ,at the schools, even a booth at the county fair. Then the yard sales, everyone combined their donations and met on the fair grounds or school parking lot. Once a year the businessess, doctors and lawyers,judges etc would have a business lunch and make a donation to the Special Olympics.

It was all so rewarding to do all this and volunteer again to be a chaperone to the stste games down in Los Angles at U.C.L.A.campus. The handicapped students taking part in the games and the chaperones stayed in the dorms, as the college students were on summer break during the time of Special Olympic Games. To see the handicapped win and get excited, was a very emotional time, it made you happy for them, the handicapped people are very special in their own right.
